Join the El Paso Museum of History as we celebrate the closing of our exhibit Escaramuza, the Poetics of Home and explore the Mexican Revolution!

What is today known as escaramuza ("skirmish") emerged among the soldaderas ("women soldiers") of the Mexican Revolution. Prohibited from fighting directly in battles because of their gender, these women developed a style of horseback riding that kicked up dirt and disguised troops as they moved through battle. From this came the contemporary sport of escaramuza, today the only women's sport within charrería. Charrería is the national sport of Mexico and is often likened to North American rodeos.

During this free, guided tour with Dr. David Romo (Ringside Seat to a Revolution), guests will travel the streetcar route through Segundo Barrio and Downtown El Paso as they learn more about historic sites related to the Mexican Revolution along the border. Please note the tour will gather in the lobby of the El Paso Museum of History before proceeding to a special event streetcar reserved for the tour.
